Should I have my hair done and then my makeup?
Yes. Because your make up has to look as fresh as possible, I recommend having your hair done first. It will take approximately 45 mins to an hour for your make up. Whilst your hair is being done I will begin with the other members of your wedding party who also require their makeup to be done. Each extra personusually takes between 30 -45 mins. There is no limit to the number of people that can have makeup done on the day (time permitting). I don't mind early starts!
How long does it take to do make-up on the day?
Generally makeup takes 30 - 45 minutes depending upon what you are having carried out i.e. false lashes and tattoo cover, but as everyone is different this will be discussed with you at your trial, once we know what makeup treatments we are carrying out.
What happens at the trial and how long will it last?
Brides should allow around two hours for your trial. If more than two people are having a trial, allow an extra hour per person. I will have a chat with you about the style of your dress and any ideas you have about the sort of make up look you want to go for. I will assess your skin type and recommend the Jane Iredale products to suit your skin. I will then apply your make up exactly as it would be on the day, including false eyelashes if you want those too. Once you are happy with the look, I record all the products used on a makeup prescription chart and take digital pictures to ensure that we can create the look exactly as you want it on your wedding day.
Which cosmetics do you use?
I use various cosmetics, mainly Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics and other professional brands as required including Bobbi Brown, Dior & Clarins. These cosmetics I find are good quality, lovely colours, have little perfume in them and last really well. I have found previously that one brand of cosmetics doesnt suit everyones style and taste!
I have very sensitive skin and I don't usually wear much make up. I just want to go for a natural look, is this possible?
Yes, absolutely. Lots of brides are not used to wearing heavy make up and I will take this into account when we meet at your trial. I will also have a chat with you about your skin and any problems you have. I also use Jane Iredale Mineral skincare makeup as my main products and as such you are at much less risk of any complications arising from the application of the makeup however a trial is always recommended to test your suitability to the products as well as testing your look for the day.
I would like to try false lashes, but I'm worried they will look too strange.
Most brides like the idea of having full lashes for their wedding day. I offer full strip lashes which are nice if you want to go for a more glamorous look, and individual lashes which can be applied at the corners of your eyes to open them up or used across your full lashes for a fuller look. These look very natural and are easy to apply. You can try these for only £10 at your trial to see if you like the look (regular price £12.00) and if you book them for your wedding they will be free of charge (Bride Only).
Do you do both the hairstyling, make-up, manicures and pedicures?
Personally, I only do make up and beauty, but I have a very talented bridal hairdresser that I work with if a bride wants the same 'team' to do hair and make up. Providing Julie is also free on your wedding date, we can arrange for you to have a hair and make up trial at the same time, so you can see how the whole effect looks, or separate trials if that suits you better. If you wish to check availability for the hairdresser too, please call Julie on 07866 736 847 or visit www.hair-at-home.co.uk.
What if I need to re-touch my make-up during the day?
Your make-up has been applied to last all day, however I retail all of the Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics and can supply you with any of the products within the current range.
Alternatively, if you wish me to stay at your wedding throughout the day and change your makeup in the evening, then this is possible too.
How much experience do you have?
I have over 5 years experience of being a professional Mobile Make-up Artist and Beauty Therapist and am a fully recognised member of The Guild of Beauty Therapists & HABIA.
The aren’t many pictures on a portfolio page, why is this?
The majority of my portfolio is within a printed portfolio which I bring along to FREE consultations and trials so you can see examples of my work and also gain ideas for your own makeup.
