How much is my face worth?????

As a blogger people regularly think that I am on PR Lists (A PR List is where a makeup brand sends a blogger free makeup) with makeup brands however as a professional makeup artist I believe that it’s important to be impartial and therefore do not receive any free products. Therefore, except for a couple of brands where I have a professional discount, my face will cost the same as yours!

As a woman who lives and breathes makeup and skincare, I like to try many different brands and products including high end and high street. Some products I have already discovered are my ‘go to’ products and you will probably be sick of hearing me speak about them by now however I also like to change things up sometimes and am forever experimenting with new products or recommended products.

Below I will list my current makeup products which I use every day, why I love them, how much they are and where you can buy them from. Again, I receive no money for recommending products and this blog post is correct at the time of publishing.

My current makeup bag includes the following products:

PRIMER:

MUA 24K Facial Oil Base (£4 Superdrug)

Illamasqua Hydra Veil (£34 Illamasqua.com)

I have older skin (I’m in my 40’s (Shhhhhhhh)) and I also have eczema which can flair up and so everyday I will use one of the above primers however if my skin is really dry I will use one of the MUA bases under the Illaamasqua Hydra Veil Primer. This is my current favourite primer. I have previously told clients, when asked about the product, that I don’t like the texture on my skin however I picked one up from TK Maxx at Christmas to do another review on a TK Maxx haul and have rediscovered this beautiful product. Not only does it hydrate my skin but my makeup applied perfectly and seems to last longer than when I have used some other primers. It is pricy at £….. however I apply it with a small duo fibre brush and a little goes a long way so I think the cost is worth it.

CONCEALER:

MAC Studio Fix 24hr Concealer in NW20 (£18.50 Maccosmetics.co.uk)

This concealer does what it claims and not only covers my blemishes but also my under eye dark circles and also doesn’t budge. It is a light weight creamy texture as you would expect from the studio fix range but has medium, build-able coverage and is great on dryer ageing skin too. As I’m in my 40’s (sssssssssssssh) I must admit that it does need to be set or it settles in my fine lines, however this is the case for all concealers when you have fine lines 😮

FOUNDATION:

L’Oreal True Match in shades 2N and 3N (£9.99 Boots and Superdrug)

Many of my clients and readers of my blog/Instagram will be surprised to find that I have moved from MAC Studio Fix Fluid to the L’Oreal perfect match foundation. Not only are you surprised, But I am too!!! I have been using The MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC15 for over 5 years and no other foundation has managed to move me away until I tried the L’Oreal Prefect Match in 2N. Not only do I believe that it is a dupe for MAC Studio Fix but it also has a medium build-able coverage, with a creamy consistency and doesn’t catch on my dry patches and fine lines. I apply it with my Tarte Cosmetics foundation buffer brush however I do find that I have to use a mini blender over my under eye and frown line areas!

SETTING POWDER:

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder (£34 Charlottetilbury.co.uk)

Again, I always used to use MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in Medium however as soon as I tried the Charlotte Tilbury Powder in Medium I was converted. This powder is in a beautiful compact and is so finely milled that it sets my makeup without collecting in my fine lines. It also removes shine and creates a flawless finish as advertised. I don’t know what to say other than as long as I can afford this product it will always be my setting powder.

HIGHLIGHT & CONTOUR:

Tarte Cosmetics Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette (£37 tartecosmetics.com)

I am a recent convert to Tarte Cosmetics and this is one of my favourite highlight and contour palettes. It may be too subtle for those of you who want more definition and glow but I find it perfect for my personal makeup style. This palette also smells like chocolate and that’s a definite plus for me. The highlight is build-able however as it is very finely milled it can be used more subtly as with the contour shade. I love the fact that it gives me definition without looking false.

BLUSH:

MAC Peachykeen powder blush (£19.50 maccosmetics.co.uk)

I have been using this blusher shade for over 5 years and I still cant find a shade to replace it that I love more, including Nars Orgasm Blush!!! Peachykeen is more pinky peach toned which is perfect for my skin tone and perfect for summer and tanned skin.

As advertised it “applies evenly, adheres lightly to skin to achieve a natural-looking application of colour that stays put all day”. This blush does have a slight shimmer but isn’t glittery and so you don’t look like a throwback from the 1970’s, you just have a gentle glow.

EYELINER:

Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Chocolate Shimmer Ink (£18.50 Bobbibrown.co.uk)

Again I have been using this eyeliner for more years that I can remember after my hubby bought me a duo set from duty free years ago. I have tried many other gel liners however the Bobbi Brown product is very easy to use, it has a texture which allows you to not pick up too much product and even though I shouldn’t condone this, I have mine for over 2 years and it still hasn’t dried up! I have also worn this eyeliner on holidays in extreme heat and whilst swimming and it doesn’t budge so this is great for me and for my clients. As you apply it with a brush you can achieve many different styles too depending upon the style of brush used i.e. Fine point, angled etc. And so I find it extremely versatile and well worth the money.

EYESHADOW PALETTE:

Tarte Cosmetics tartelette toasted eyeshadow palette (£38 tartecosmetics.com)

This is my current favourite palette but I have many different palettes from many different companies including plenty of the Tarte palettes. I love the fact that the powders are finely milled, highly pigmented, easily blendable and also the shimmers are of a high quality. The only drawback is the fallout in the palette after you have picked up the product with your brush but this isn’t too severe and you don’t loose too much. This also happens with many of the fine powder palettes and so isn’t an exclusive problem with Tarte palette.

This palette is a mix & match of 12 warm, rich eyeshadows (7 wearable mattes & 5 lustrous shimmers) and is arranged in rows for three easy looks. What more could a girl want ❤️

BROWS:

Urban Decay Brow Beater pencil in Neutral Brown (£17 urbandecay.co.uk)

I tint my eyebrows however as many women of my age will understand, due to plucking the life out of my brows in the 1990’s / 2000’s I have sparse patches and they are shorter than they should be. With this in mind I like to use a fine pencil to draw in the individual lines and find the Brow Beater pencil great for this. It also has a twist up pencil so that your product is protected. A bonus is the amazing stiff bristled spoolie on the other end of the pencil which is also covered by a cap. This spoolie allows you to brush your brows even if they are stubborn and create a wonderful neat brow or the new trend of brushed up, ‘boyfriend’ brows.

SETTING SPRAY:

MAC Fix + in Coconut (£19 maccosmetics.co.uk)

If I am going on a big night out or need my makeup staying perfect all day I have discovered Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray and it is definitely worth the hype however for everyday I prefer MAC Fix + in Coconut. Not only does it give my skin a boost of hydration but it also sets my makeup and smells gorgeous (it reminds me of holidays all year round!) There is a reason that this product is a favourite for many makeup artists and bloggers.

LIPS:

Anastasia Beverley Hills Lipgloss in Caramel (£17 anastasiabeverlyhills.co.uk)

This is my current go to lip product as I am a lazy girl at heart and once I have applied my makeup I cannot be bothered spending all night reapplying my lips! The lipgloss is high pigment and feels weightless on your lips and has the shine of a gloss. This liquid lipstick is a must for me as it is not only highly pigmented and long lasting but also isn’t too drying on my lips.

The actual cost of my current makeup bag favourites costs £266.49

This is quite expensive as some of the products are high end however you can swap some of these products out for your favourite products/brands, Ive just given you a breakdown of my actual favourite products that I use on a daily basis. As with all women I have cheaper versions of some of these products and find that they are good but not as good as the my holy grail products on my face at the moment.

With regards to the costs listed of these products, I have listed the full price however I have purchased some of them at TK Maxx and duty free and also in the sales and so I always suggest having a good look around for your products for the best offer.
