How To Banish Those Dark Circles and look more awake (Part 1)
So you have dark circles that are making you feel and look old, tired and unhealthy. Its a problem that many of us have and unfortunately there are many causes for them:

Hereditary

Allergies
-
Pigmentation

Rubbing your Eyes

Sun Damage
Another cause of dark circles is the natural ageing process. When you age, you tend to lose fat and collagen, and your skin often thins. This can make the reddish-blue blood vessels under your eyes more prominent (healthline.com, 2018).Below I’ll discuss some of the remedies to get rid of the pesky dark circles and in my next Blog post I’ll also give you some advice on how to use specific makeup to aid in covering them.
Remedies to eradicate Dark Circles
We all want to get rid of the dark circles so that we don’t have to bother with covering them with makeup in the morning. There are several ways that people report they’ve eliminated or reduced the appearance of dark circles under their eyes. Everybody is different, so some of these remedies might not work for you. None of them are expensive so give them a go….
Hydrate
Drinking your daily quota of water helps promote proper blood circulation around the eyes, which means no longer looking like a raccoon. Each person’s hydration levels are different (I drink approx. 2 litres of water a day, some people need less)
Avoid Rubbing Your Eyes
The friction from rubbing your eyes can cause your skin to darken, so if you’re particularly aggressive with removing your eye makeup, this one change could make all the difference.
Use micellar water to remove your makeup, as it is gentle and helps “melt” eye makeup with the least amount of scrubbing. I like to use Garnier Micellar Water Delicate Skin and Eyes and have this at home and also in my Makeup Kit.
Sleep
Lack of sleep, which we are all guilty of, can cause dark circles under your eyes. It can also make you look paler, which might make your dark circles appear darker. Make sure you’re getting seven to eight hours of sleep each night.
Elevation
When you sleep, try an extra pillow under your head to lessen the puffiness of fluid pooling in your lower eyelids.
Cold Compresses
Sometimes dilated blood vessels can darken the area under your eyes. A cold compress can cause the blood vessels to constrict, which may result in a lessening of the dark circles.
Cucumber – Followers of natural healing suggest chilling thick slices of cucumbers and then placing the chilled slices on the dark circles for about 10 minutes. Then rinse the area with water. Repeat this treatment daily.
Tea bags – Natural healers suggest soaking two teabags (use caffeinated tea) in warm water, squeezing them out and then chilling the bags in the fridge for an hour. Place a bag on each eye.
After five minutes, remove the teabags and rinse the area with cold water. The tea bags can be used multiple times. Keep them fresh in a lunch bag in your fridge. This method is my personal favourite 😉
