The application of make-up is a skill that women are expected to possess, however they very rarely receive any formal training. Often relying on a process of learning through trial and error and being taught by our mums, sisters and friends; this often becomes an expensive learning curve as the cosmetics industry market their products on the basis of their brand – not their suitability to different skin types and tones.
To me, the secret of beautiful makeup isn’t a makeup bag filled with the most expensive items or using complicated application techniques – it’s about using the right products in the right places to bring out your natural beauty. Now I will pass on my 15+ years of experience and skills on to you with personalised makeup lessons so you will know how to choose colours that will complement your skin tone, make your face light up, look flawless and last all day.
My makeup lessons are based on one to one tuition with me personally, and are designed to find the right products and application techniques that are right for you and for the look you are trying to achieve, and so each lesson is as unique as you are.
My lessons are based on the “half face” technique, where I will demonstrate each stage step by step on one half of your face, and then guide you to apply the make-up to the other half of your face using the techniques that you have just learned. This “learning through doing” approach will give you the confidence that you will be able to repeat what you have learned once I have gone home.
Each make-up lesson takes place in the comfort of your home* or in my home. (* travel charges may apply).

Complete Beginner Make-Up Lesson 2 ½ hours £50
The Complete Beginner Make-Up Lesson is a full 2 ½ hrs of one on one tuition tailored to your individual requirements and delivered in the comfort of your own home.
Typically, the lesson is based on developing the skills and techniques required to create a natural, radiant, and wearable look, and includes:
Skincare,
Preparation,
Foundation matching,
Concealing and camouflage,
Application techniques,
Product and colour recommendations and
False lash application.
However, if you have a particular focus in mind, such as makeup for job interviews or a more intense look, this time can either be tailored to suit you or you can add on Focus Feature Mini Sessions at a later date.
Daytime Make-Up Lesson 90 minutes £35
The Daytime Make-Up Lesson is a full 90 minutes of one on one tuition tailored to your individual requirements and delivered in the comfort of your own home.
Typically the lesson is based on developing the skills and techniques required to create a very natural, radiant day look, however if you have a particular focus in mind, such as makeup for job interviews or how to correct & conceal blemishes Claire will adjust the lesson to suit your individual needs. Claire brings to your lesson a full professional makeup kit so you can experiment with new products and colours however she recommends working with your current make-up kit wherever possible so that you can easily put the skills and techniques you have learned into practice when she isn’t there.
Evening Make-Up Lesson 2 1/2 hrs £50
The Day to Evening Make-Up Lesson is a full 2 1/2-hours of one on tuition tailored to your individual requirements and delivered in the comfort of your own home.
Typically the lesson is based on developing the skills and techniques required to create a very natural, radiant day look and how this can be transformed into a more glamorous evening style, however if you have a particular focus in mind, such as makeup for job interviews or how to correct & conceal blemishes, Smokey eyes or flicks, Claire will adjust the lesson to suit your individual needs.
Claire brings to your lesson a full professional makeup kit so you can experiment with new products and colours however she recommends working with your current make-up kit wherever possible so that you can easily put the skills and techniques you have learned into practice when she isn’t there.
Bridal Make-up Lesson – (2 ½ hours) £75
The Bridal Makeup Lesson is a full 2 ½ hours of specialised bridal one on one tuition tailored to your individual requirements and delivered in the comfort of your own home.
This lesson is for brides who wish to learn how to apply their own makeup on their wedding day or brides getting married abroad. Typically the lesson is based on developing the skills and techniques required to create a natural, radiant wedding day look just for you, however if you have a particular focus in mind, such as darker eye makeup, Claire will adjust the lesson to suit your individual needs.
Claire will also go through your existing makeup to see what can be used and what needs to be updated for your bridal look. The bridal lessons are based on the “half face” technique, where she will demonstrate each stage step by step on one half of your face, and then guide you to apply the make-up to the other half of your face using the techniques that you have just learned.
This “learning through doing” approach will give you the confidence that you will be able to repeat what you have learned once Claire has gone home. Alternatively if you would prefer, a friend can be taught how to apply your wedding day makeup on your behalf. You will receive instruction on skincare and a full makeup prescription (shopping list) of products to take away. Group Make-Up Lesson 3 hrs £120, 2 people (additional people £50 p/p)
The group lesson is ideal for ladies who want to learn together, and perhaps make an evening out of the session with friends and a glass of wine. This lesson is a lovely way to spend the evening/afternoon and is extremely popular for birthdays and girls nights.
The group lesson is led by Claire with tips and tricks of the trade, colour analysis and guides to application. The session will be tailored to the individual requirements of the group, taking into account your current level of experience and specific areas of interest and will begin with demonstrations of different aspects of makeup application using members of the group.
As well as covering application techniques, the lesson will also include helping each participant to identify which looks / colours work well for them and why, and translating this knowledge right the way through to their current make-up kits so that everyone can put the lesson into practice at home.
Makeup Demonstrations £180 (upto 4 hours)
The demonstration lesson is led by Claire and is popular with larger groups wanting to learn the secrets of professional makeup. Claire shares with the group tips and tricks of the trade she has learnt over her 10 years as a professional makeup artist and includes colour analysis and guides to application.
The session will begin with demonstrations of different aspects of makeup application using a member of the group. In addition to covering a number of application techniques, the lesson will also include helping the participants to identify which looks / colours will work well for them and why, and how to translate this right the way through to their current make-up kits so that they can put the skills and techniques covered in the lesson into practice at home.
After the demonstration each member of the group will receive a Makeup by Claire brochure which includes tips on make-up application, trends and a guide to application. Attendees at a demonstration who wish to further their knowledge by booking an individual lesson will receive a 10% discount.
1 hour – £20
Eyes – Learn the art of creating a classic or smokey eye or a current trend.
Eyebrows – Learn the art of eyebrow styling and shaping to suit you.
Contouring – Learn the correct tools, products and techniques for contouring/highlighting /blushing to create a subtle look or a look with high definition.
False Lash Application – Learn how to professionally fit, trim and position your lashes for easy, application.
These mini sessions can be booked individually (to be carried out in my home) or added onto an existing makeup lesson.
